Aldi Mandarin Orange Chicken
I know Aldi sells an orange chicken that you can heat in the oven within minutes for a satisfying meal for yourself or the entire family. It is great over rice, your favorite vegetables, or even noodles.
The brand is Fusia and it is you can find this Asian Inspired Mandarin Orange entree from Aldi in their freezer section.
Where does the orange chicken recipe originate?
The orange chicken recipe has a long and varied history. The dish is thought to have originated in the Hunan province of China, where it was first made with a type of dried mandarin orange called a tangerine. It wasn’t until the 1940s that the dish started appearing in restaurants throughout America, and it was given its now-familiar name of “orange chicken.”
Do you have to use Orange Marmalade in the sauce?
No, you don’t have to use Orange Marmalade in the sauce. You can substitute a similar product like apricot preserves or even Mandarin oranges.
What else can I add to this recipe?
If you want to add a little bit of heat to this dish, you can try adding a teaspoon or two of sriracha sauce to the sauce. You can also add a bit of chopped green onion to the chicken before serving.
Aldi Orange Chicken and Rice
What do I like about bagged meals like that? They are great for those beyond busy nights where you need to get something on the table quickly.
What I don’t like about bagged meals like that? They are often seasoned with a sauce that I find is either lackluster or overpowering.
THAT is why I have a fake-out version of Aldi Orange Chicken for you and your family that is still super budget-friendly and very easy to make. We prefer it over rice but it is beyond easy to stretch this meal further by adding a bag of your favorite frozen veggies to it!
How do you cook Aldi Gold Bag Chicken?
First of all, these are fully cooked so you really only need to heat them up. The instructions allow for both oven and microwave heating, with the microwave being the faster of the two options. I would skip the air fryer as this chicken is already cooked.
To bake, you first preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Put a silicone baking mat or piece of parchment paper on your baking sheet and then place the tenders on a single layer on a baking sheet, then cook for 4 minutes, turn, and cook for 4-6 minutes longer until heated through. I find that if I don’t layer the baking sheet first that the chicken tends to stick to the baking sheet.
As for the microwave, the more you do at a time, the longer it will take to cook them.
- 3 tenders cook 40-50 seconds
- 6 tenders cook 1 minute to 1 minute 10 seconds
- 9 tenders cook 1 minute 30 seconds to 1 minute 40 seconds
- 12 tenders cook 1 minute 40 seconds to 1 minute 50 seconds
I like this option if I just want to heat a few up to dip in honey mustard as an appetizer or something.

How do you store leftover Aldi Orange Chicken?
We wrap it up in plastic wrap or in an airtight container and store it in the fridge. It will keep for a few days, but I like to eat it all within 24 hours if possible. We usually eat this over rice or with noodles, so we use those leftovers as well!
How do you reheat leftovers of Aldi Orange Chicken?
We put it in the microwave on medium power for about a minute and a half, stirring halfway through. If it’s not hot enough when we take it out, we’ll put it back in for another 15-30 seconds. We’ve never had any complaints!
