This easy Easter Candy Jar Craft is so easy to make and with a few simple supplies from your local Dollar Store? You have transformed them into the cutest jars to fill with candy for special Easter morning treats.
This isn’t necessarily one that you can do with the littles – it involves glass after all and a hot glue gun. You could have them help you with the painting part of it, and then help them fill it for gift giving. It’s the perfect teacher gift or for that lonely older person in your neighborhood.
This is one you can do at other times of the year too – the ceramic painting sets usually come during the holidays – with different ones for different seasons/holidays. I can see cute red and green ones around Christmas time, orange or black around Halloween – you get the idea.
I would suggest stocking un on the fake/paper Easter grass right now – it is usable year-round for so many different gift-giving ideas and is so much better than the plastic shreds that are not only bad for the environment but your pets – should they get ahold of a few strings.
That being said – let’s get to crafting!
Easy Dollar Store Easter Candy Jar Craft
You will need:
- Small Glass Jars with Metal Lids – from the Dollar Tree Dollar Store
- Ceramic Easter Painting Sets; Bunny and Chick – from the Dollar Tree Dollar Store
- Multi-Surface Craft Paint – Light Blue, and Yellow
- Low Temp Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Paintbrush – from the Dollar Tree Dollar Store
- Ribbon – ¼” wide Satin Pastel Rainbow
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Ruler
- Scissors
Instructions for your Easter Candy Jar:
STEP ONE
Gather all materials and remove supplies from the packaging. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the metal loop from the top of the ceramic bunny and chick figurines. Attach the bunny and the chick to the metal lids of each jar with a glue gun and glue sticks. Let low temp glue cool completely before moving on to the next step.
STEP TWO
Basecoat the bunny lid with light blue multi-surface craft paint and the chick lid with yellow multi-surface craft paint. Let dry. The multi-surface craft paint will adhere to the metal lid and ceramic figurines without chipping or peeling as acrylic craft paint will.
Topcoat the bunny lid with light blue multi-surface craft paint and the chick lid with yellow multi-surface craft paint. Let dry, and apply additional coats, if necessary.
STEP THREE
Once dry, screw the lids onto the jars. Tie pastel rainbow ribbon around the neck of the glass jar and finish with a bow. Trim ends of ribbon diagonally to prevent fraying.
STEP FOUR
Remove the lids from the glass jars, fill them with fun colors of Easter grass and your favorite assorted candies and chocolates.
Let the kiddos help create and fill the Dollar Store Easter Jars to give as gifts to family, friends, and neighbors. Makes a great teacher gift as well! Mix and match ceramic shapes and paint colors to create an entire set of jars!
If you can’t find these exact jars at your local Dollar Tree – show this to your store manager and simply ask if they have any in the back OR to keep you in mind for an alert when they come back in stock. Seriously, my Dollar Tree guy has been a lifesaver for all of my bunny crafts this year!
