In this version of the delicious meal, we are using the instant pot to make things even easier. So gather your ingredients and let’s get started on this easy Instant Pot recipe.

How to cook shrimp in an instant pot

It really is beyond easy to cook shrimp in your instant pot! It literally takes only 3 minutes when you use your Instant Pot as a pressure cooker. All you have to do is place your shrimp in the pot, add your seasonings and liquid, then close the lid and set the timer for three minutes.

Once the timer goes off, release the pressure and open the lid.

We love to use Old Bay seasoning, chicken or vegetable stock, and frozen or fresh shrimp. Let it cool and you have a killer shrimp cocktail!

What kind of shrimp do you use?

There are so many types and sizes of shrimp. We usually use whatever is on sale at the grocery store or looks the freshest. But here are a few tips:

For this recipe, you want to use shrimp that is already peeled and deveined. It will save you a lot of time!

If your shrimp is frozen, be sure to thaw it completely before cooking. You can place the frozen shrimp in a colander and run cold water over it until it is fully thawed.

If you are using fresh shrimp, be sure to remove the shells and devein them before cooking. To devein raw shrimp, simply use a paring knife to make a shallow cut down the back of the shrimp. This will allow you to remove the dark vein that runs along the shrimp’s back.

What kind of pasta do you use?

For this recipe, we recommend using a long pasta such as spaghetti or linguine. But really, any type of dry pasta will work. If you are looking for a low-carb option, you can substitute the pasta for zucchini noodles.

To cook the pasta, simply add it to the instant pot with the shrimp and other ingredients as we describe in the recipe instructions.

Do you have to use pasta?

No, you don’t have to use pasta. If you want a low-carb or gluten-free option, simply omit the pasta and enjoy the shrimp scampi as is.

You could also just use rice or risotto with the scampi too.
