Sheet pan eggs in the oven? Yes, we’re going to show you how to make sheet pan eggs in the oven! If you want a no-fuss breakfast that is easy and delicious, this is it.
Why eggs? Eggs are an incredibly inexpensive protein choice when we see the price of various cuts of meat at the grocery store simply jumping in prices. Ground beef has gone from $1.99 a pound up to $7.99 a pound in some areas – steak even higher! Chicken prices are creeping up and even pork.
Eggs, on the other hand, have held a steadier price over the years. We can still get a dozen package of the Grade A Large eggs for about $1.29 – and with each egg being roughly 2 ounces? That is a steal for protein right now unless you want to go vegetarian and try things like lentils.
If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and affordable breakfast or dinner idea – sheet pan eggs in the oven is the way to go! Plus, they are delicious.
What are sheet pan eggs?
Sheet pan eggs are simply eggs that are cooked on a sheet pan in the oven. They can be cooked with or without any add-ins – we’ll give you some ideas below!
What are sheet pan eggs good for?
Sheet pan eggs in the oven make for a great breakfast, lunch, or dinner! They are an affordable and easy way to get your protein fixed, and they are delicious. Plus, if you’re cooking for one or two people, this is the perfect recipe – there’s no need to waste any ingredients by making a big batch.
We like them for meal prep too! You can cook off eggs in advance, in bulk, and be ready to whip up a few different kinds of meals for the week:
Sheet pan eggs for breakfast sandwiches
Why pay four bucks to McDonald’s to have some scrambled egg and meat combo popped onto a biscuit? Make your own sheet pan eggs breakfast sandwich for a fraction of the price and with ingredients you control. Simply toast up a nice bun, and then top it off with your cooked sheet pan eggs.
Sheet pan eggs for burritos
The same goes for breakfast burritos. Who doesn’t love a good breakfast burrito? Again, cook off some sheet pan eggs and then load them up with your favorite toppings – we like ours with salsa and cheese. Roll them inside a tortilla and then wrap them in foil or plastic wrap for the fridge or freezer.
A quick zap in the microwave (remove the foil first) and you are ready for breakfast on the run.
Sheet pan egg tacos
We have all had traditional ground beef tacos, carnitas, chicken tacos, and even shrimp tacos are on the rise – have you tried egg tacos?
While sheet pan eggs for breakfast may not be traditional taco meat of choice, they are just as tasty and just as easy to make.
We just use things like chorizo and queso fresco in our sheet pan eggs to bring a little zip to the tacos.
Sheet pan eggs for a crowd
Do you like to entertain or have a large family? Sheet pan eggs in the oven can easily be customized to individuals and there isn’t a frypan to watch over! Simply make a sheet pan of scrambled eggs and then top with whatever everyone likes.
Sausage, bacon, ham, tomatoes, green onions, cheese – the options are endless!
Sheet pan egg dish variations:
Yes, there are so many possible combinations available! Here are some sheet pan egg recipes to get you started:
Sheet pan eggs and bacon
You want to precook your bacon for the best results.
Sheet pan eggs with veggies
Any veggies are great with this – I like to precook them a bit first unless they are soft veggies like tomatoes or mushrooms. Onions, garlic, peppers, and even broccoli are better if they are lightly steamed.
Sheet pan eggs and potatoes
I like to use hashbrowns for this – but they should be steamed first until they are almost done. You could even pan-fry them to a light golden color – it takes on the texture almost of a frittata.
Sheet pan eggs and sausage
Cook off and crumble your sausage in advance – bulk ground sausage is best instead of the sausage patties or links.
Sheet pan eggs with cheese
Play around with the different kinds of cheese! Sharp cheddar, Feta, even pepper jack all make for a different flavor combination. Divide your sheet pan eggs in the oven into 6 different kinds of cheesy eggs and do a taste test to see what everyone likes best!
Can you freeze sheet pan eggs?
Yes – sheet pan eggs in the oven freeze beautifully!
If you are planning on freezing them, let them cool completely and then add them to a freezer bag. Defrost overnight before using or heating up for an easy breakfast option.
Sheet pan eggs can be stored in the fridge for several days but they will not last as long as traditional hard-boiled eggs.
