I love thrift shopping! We needed a new mirror to place over the dresser in my bedroom and I found this gem at a thrift store for $4. It was in great shape and the details on the border stole my heart. Here is the trick to tie things together that don’t really match: paint them. If they are the same color, they match!
I didn’t want to paint directly onto the frame of the mirror, so I used an empty styrofoam container from a restaurant. I spray painted on to that and then, using a foam brush, I lightly went over the raised texture. It left the original white in the background and that helped make the teal pop even more.
When you pull away from the mirror, you can see the full effect –
After letting it dry, it works perfectly in the master bedroom and blends in with the Kleenex holder, picture frame, mini Eiffel Tower, candle stick holder and glass containers. It all blends together now and works with the rest of my artwork and quilts. Soon, I will give a video tour of the room – promise!
