Craft supplies are not meant to be expensive. The whole idea is to save money doing something yourself and to have fun doing it. As such, why are craft supplies so darn expensive sometimes? There is some good news, however. You can find tons of craft supplies all around you that are cheap and sometimes even free. Here are several ideas to get the craft supplies you need on the cheap.

Nature – The best place to find craft supplies is right outside your door. If you are lucky enough to live near the woods, you can quickly find leaves, pine cones, twigs, branches, foliage and countless other wonderful items for crafts.

Around the House – Old blankets, unused clothes, old paint cans, toilet paper rolls, ice cream sticks, old toys, coat hangers and countless other items are all around and just waiting for re-purposing.

Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, Flea Markets – You can find a ton of awesome craft materials around the thrift store. Old milk jugs, ceramics, picture frames, glassware, clothing and pretty much everything under the sun can really bring your crafting to life without spending a fortune. Get creative and hunt these places often for the things you need. Ask yourself how you might reuse them and create something new.

Farmer’s Markets – This is a wonderful place to get the obvious things like foliage, particular plants and various other decorative items. What often gets overlooked is the unique containers that can be found. Homemade soaps, salt bars and other items are far cheaper here too. Think outside the box when you visit the Farmer’s Market for crafting ideas.
