A Guide To Picking Fruits This Summer
One of my favorite things to do in the Summer time is to go out and pick my own fruit. There is something about the taste and satisfaction you get from picking your own fruit. Trust me, fruit tastes a million times better straight from the source than it does when you pick it up at the produce section from your local grocery store. Well, you have to get the fruit at the best times of the year and when it is at it’s peak for the season. Today I am going to be giving you a guide of when you should head out and pick your favorite fruits this Summer.
-Strawberries: The best time to pick strawberries is around May-June. What you will want to look for is a nice and firm berry with a bright and intense red color. A little hint if they still have a lot of white coloring on them, leave them they aren’t quite ready for picking yet!
-Blueberries: You will want to pick blueberries around June-July! What you will want to look for is a firm berry that has a deep blue color and a little bit of a white coating on them.
-Raspberries: If you’re a fan of raspberries, you’re in luck! Raspberries have a pretty wide frame of their prime. You can find great raspberries between July-October. You will want to look for your berries to be plump, bright in color, and make sure they all look cohesive in color.
-Blackberries: Blackberries are best between the months of June-August. You will once again want to be sure that your berries are nice and plump and bright in their color.
-Cherries: Cherries are best in the months of June-July. Once again when it comes to picking cherries you will want to make sure they are nice and firm and that they have a nice and intense deep red coloring to the outer skin.
-Peaches: Peaches are in their prime between the months of July-September. What you want to look for when it comes to peaches is a nice and firm feel but not too hard. If they are really hard, they’re not quite ready yet but you also want to make sure they are not soft and mushy either.
-Apples: Apples are a fruit that are more in their prime towards the Fall season, but you can find some great ones in the late Summer time as well such as August-September. You will want to look for a nice firm shape with a bright coloring of your apple.
Well there you have it! If you were wondering about when the best time to pick your favorite fruits this Summer was, I hope this guide helps you out. I know the difference between an extremely fresh fruit and one that is a little off season and not quite so fresh. Trust me, this guide will really help you out in that sense.
