Yes, we have been doing Elf on a Shelf, and we also have been getting ready for the big Church Christmas Pageant. {We are VERY immersed in the holiday festivities!} This DIY Holiday Headband was just the ticket for what we needed and it was a treat that the Elf could bring!

DIY Holiday Headband

This is a SIMPLE headband upcycle I did, that cost $2.15

My kiddo is wearing a RED holiday dress at the pageant on Sunday, and has read sparkly shoes. She wanted me to do the same curly/ringlets that we had for her Nutcracker performance and I thought a new headband should top it off!

First, I grabbed a few things:

A tube of mini ornaments from the dollar bins at Target, her old headbands, a feather clip – dollar bin at Michael’s craft store, green floral wire and my handy dandy glue gun.

Start by gluing all the tops on the ornaments, or they simply pop off when you are wiring them on. (sigh).

You simply run them all on the wire, and wrap it around the headband, keeping the ornaments all on the TOP side. ALMOST there… but it had a few “holes” in it and needed more transition from the headband’s flat flower to the popping ornaments.

SO, I added a little green curly fill from a clearance holiday pick (Michael’s) and then, tucked that feather clip in to make that transition smoother.

I tried it on myself, and it’s comfortable – not as big as you would think. It should be PERFECT for holding back those curly blonde ringlets this Sunday!

Have you ever whipped up a quick project to surprise someone?
