Frugal Meal Ideas for When You’re Broke!
We’ve all been there…that bank account is dwindling and payday is still a week away. It seems as though it’s much easier to spend more at he grocery store because there are so many options and convenience food at the grocery store. If you are looking for some frugal meal ideas to hold you over until the next paycheck think simplicity, which is also more healthy for us! Often times you will hear that healthy food is expensive, if you stick to simple meals that is not the case. One simple tip when looking for frugal meals ideas look for items that are inexpensive, yet packed with protein and will be filling. I know it gets boring eating ramen noodles so I have some great frugal meal ideas to help hold you over for those times when they money runs out before payday.
Breakfast Ideas:
English muffin with egg and cheese
Fried Eggs with Buttered Toast
Oatmeal with raisins or cinnamon and sugar
Fruit and Yogurt
Scrambled eggs with veggies mixed in (Green/ Red Peppers are great)
Homemade biscuits and gravy
Buttered toast (Top with Honey, Cinnamon & Sugar or Peanut Butter)
Lunch Ideas:
Leftovers
Bean and Cheese burritos mixed with salsa
Baked Potato and side salad
Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup
Cheese and Crackers with a side of fruit
Tuna salad sandwich with fruit or veggie
Cheese quesadillas with rice
Risotto with shredded chicken added
English Muffin Pizzas with carrot sticks
Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches with fruit
Dinner Ideas:
Macaroni and Cheese (Get creative with items to mix in)
Stir Fry (Cabbage, onions, carrots with rice – Meat Optional)
Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce
Chicken Noodle Soup with crackers
Crockpot Ham & Beans with cornbread
Vegetarian chili with crackers or cornbread
Chicken with mashed potato and gravy. Use broth from chicken to make gravy
Baked Chicken with veggie and deviled eggs
Vegetable soup with homemade bread
