Is your pet getting enough exercise? The answer depends on a number of different factors. Here, we’ll take a closer look at how much exercise your pet needs.
The amount of exercise a dog needs varies by age, physical shape, and breed. In general, dogs require at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. That being said, some dogs may require even more exercise than that. Large high-energy breeds generally require more exercise than most small breeds. Overweight dogs also generally need to get more exercise. Taking multiple walks throughout the day or throwing around a tennis ball or Frisbee are great ways to ensure your dogs’ activity levels are being met.
While they’re typically known for their laidback, lazy nature, cats also require exercise! About 20-30 minutes a day is considered ideal. Though they might not seem as easy to exercise as dogs are, cats love to play with toys or chase laser lights. You might also consider building a cat agility course or investing in a cat tower for Fluffy.
These are just some general ideas on how much exercise your pet needs a day. If you’re wondering how much exercise your dog or cat needs, be sure to talk to your veterinarian.
