Summertime is picnic time! Whether you’re heading out to an impromptu picnic with friends or looking to share a romantic low-cost date with your spouse, having these items on hand will make sure you’re prepared to picnic at any time!

Picnic Basket

You’ll need something to keep your meal in. Sure you can use a cooler or a bag but why not a traditional picnic basket? You’ll not only have the nostalgic feeling of picnics long ago, but the presentation is really nice as well.

The Picnic Blanket

You can’t forget something to sit on! While some people might prefer collapsible chairs, there’s nothing quite like spreading out a big blanket and sharing a meal. This one comes with its own carrying case and has a water-resistant backing so you won’t end up with a soggy bottom! It works great for a beach blanket or spread out on the sidelines at a sporting event.

silverware

Silverware

Finger food is great for picnics but if you’ve got items that need the help of some silverware these compostable, disposable pieces are great for picnic-goers and for the environment.

glasses

Shatterproof Glasses

While these are marketed as shatterproof wine glasses, there’s no reason you couldn’t use them for any beverage. They are constructed specifically for traveler’s needs, have a nice thumb notch to hold onto the cup more easily and are reusable.

Boochie

Picnic Games

While there’s nothing wrong with relaxing, eating, and enjoying each other’s companies sometimes having a game on hand can be fun too. Boochie is an easy game of different throwing challenges. A game takes only about 15 minutes to complete and each round is totally different. The game is lightweight and easy to pack as well.

All-in-One Picnic Kit

If you don’t feel like gathering up all the bits and pieces to put together your picnic pack, check out this backpack that works as a basket, has a place to slide in a bottle of wine, its own blanket, corkscrew, plates, silverware, glasses, and napkins!

You’ll also need plenty of tasty food. Here are some of my favorite picnic recipes;

Ham Sandwich Spread

Curried Chicken Salad

Tossed Taco Salad

Tuna Pasta Salad

If you’re unsure what to make or running short on time you can still put together a delicious table without a lot of effort. Stop by your favorite deli and pick up a few different cheeses, you’ll want some hard and some soft for variety. A fresh loaf of bread (or two!) along with some fresh diced fruit come together really nicely. Grab a few other snack items like nuts and crackers. Don’t forget something sweet for dessert!

A nice bottle of wine or sparkling juice will tie everything together. You also might want to have a big bottle of water for each person.

Don’t forget plenty of napkins!
