April Fools’ Day is the ideal time to try out all of the pranks you’ve been longing to execute on your friends, family, and co-workers—and get a good laugh out of it without guilt. Because it’s essentially a pranking holiday in which every potential victim gets advance notice.
Take a look at your calendar! You have only yourself to blame if you aren’t on high alert on this one day of the year. Consider the following advice before you launch any April Fools’ Day pranks. First and foremost, be aware of your target audience. If you want people to laugh with you, don’t play a joke on someone who will despise it. Keep your jokes lighthearted as well. And if you’re going to play pranks on your co-workers, be sure they’re not getting you fired.

1. The Kitchen Sink Prank
This is a simple prank that only requires a rubber band and someone to play it on. One sink should feature a sprayer with a button to press to spray water when your prank victim turns on the tap. Wrap a rubber band around your kitchen sink’s handheld sprayer, point it toward the spot where someone stands to use the sink. Now, patiently wait for the unsuspecting person to turn on the tap, and it sprays water all over them.
2. Sriracha “Jelly Donuts” Prank
Fill a dozen jelly donuts with sriracha sauce at your workplace. If handing them out to your co-workers will get you fired, leave them in the workplace kitchen with the printed label “EAT ME” on them. Make sure you’re ready to deny everything.
3. Pre-pranked Donoughts with Mayo
Do you have a friend who can’t get enough cream-filled donuts? Here is an opportunity to make them reconsider their choice of snack. Purchase a box of plain glazed doughnuts, then fill a big ziplock baggie with mayonnaise (gross, we know). After filling the bag, cut a hole in one side to make a piping tool. After that, cut four slits in each donut and fill each with mayonnaise.
Alternatively, you can introduce your friend to a doughnut shop that sells pre-pranked doughnuts for April 1. And yes, they put mayo in the Boston Cremes. After this, biting into a filled donut will never be the same– forever ruined!
4. Salted Chocolate Cookies
If you work in a restaurant, this is your chance. You can switch the sugar and salt containers and watch your co-worker make salt-filled chocolate cookies. But be careful–you don’t want to waste a lot of food (imagine all those delicious cookies you’ll be wasting)!
Make sure whoever owns the succulent “sugar” or “salt” uses it for a few cookies to avoid wastage. The result will be as amusing, and you won’t be wasting a whole batch of delicious cookie dough batter!
5. Toothpaste Spread on Oreos
The prank is marginally evil—wicked but the most effective prank ever! Take a packet of original Oreos, twist them apart, and scrape out the cream filling.
Get a tube of toothpaste and spread the paste on each biscuit. Put the cookie back together and present it to your buddies. Just for them to bite into these things to see how they respond.
6. Dried Rice in the Drawer
This is a classic April Fools’ prank for a reason. Put dried rice in each of your workmates’ drawers. This one is pretty self-explanatory. But can you imagine your co-worker’s reaction when they return to their workspace to find the drawers filled with rice? Priceless!
7. Freezing Hubby’s Phone
You can take a screenshot of your husband’s phone home screen, then make that his wallpaper and move all his actual icons to another page. It appears like his regular phone home screen, but everything seems frozen.
8. Leaky Closet
Buy a leek and put it along with some unopened water bottles all over the closet floor. Run to your husband, tell him there is a massive leak in the closet and water was all over the floor. He’ll drive himself nuts trying to figure out the source of the so-called leak.
9. Coffee Cookies
Take pretty shapes pats of butter or cut butter into pats. Coat them with finely ground coffee grounds, espresso, or cocoa powder. Put them out, so they look like tasty chocolate. Rather than biting into creamy, sweet, decadent chocolate, whoever receives this deal would probably soon be biting into a raw butter covered in coffee. Nauseating!
10. Salty Food
This is yours if you want to prank someone who likes tasting food while cooking. Grab a spoonful for the person to taste but add a bunch of salt to that spoonful before they taste it. Quite frankly, this is a quick and sure method to destroy someone’s appetite.
11. Prank Phone Calls
You can tap the phone when it rings, and the person picks up, but the call isn’t connected, and the phone continues to ring.
12. Vegetables for Breakfast
Purchase a box of donuts from the Dunkin donut shop but remove all of the donuts before returning home. Place the box on the table and fill it with vegetables such as carrots, celery, and broccoli. Your family will be ecstatic about donuts for breakfast, only to discover salad ingredients when they open the box.
13. Add Lionel Richie’s Photos
Print out many pictures of Lionel Richie and strategically plaster his face in random places in your office that all say “Hello.” It’s likely your workmates will eventually try to catch you in the act, at which point you can yell, “April Fools!”
14. Cabinet Surprise
If you’re home all day, make it a point to swap your daughter’s medicine cabinet for bouncy balls. The joy you will get from watching your daughter trying to figure out what happened!
15. Mechanical Rooster in Your Video Meetings
A video meeting is a goldmine for playing pranks. You can replace yourself with a mechanical rooster in your video meetings (sit next to it and talk.)
16. Broken Mouse
Is your partner always on the computer? Cover the optical lens on the bottom of their computer mouse with a piece of clear scotch tape. It will prevent it from moving and halt the mouse from working!

17. Air- horn Behind the Door
Consider how you might feel if you hear a horn while opening the door. Isn’t it exciting and appealing? Yes! This is the most pleasing way to prank your pal. You’ll need to locate the air horn and install it where the door handle meets the wall. It will be a crazy moment for your pal as soon as the air horn blasts.
18. Toothpaste on Cupcakes
This one contributes to a tragedy–and a furious friend. It’s effortless to pull this prank; buy some cupcakes, take the icing and use white toothpaste as icing.
19. Speakers in a Vehicle or Computer
Check out the following prank instruction if you want to scare the living daylights out of your pal. Get some good speakers, then record the sound of a car crash. Hide the speakers near a busy intersection. Basically, have someone cross the street while playing the sound of a car screeching, and they should become terrified and flee the scene. Cover every horizontal surface of someone’s room, or office with edge-to-edge Dixie cups, each containing a single Skittle or M&M. People’s sour expressions will appear after they eat from your bowl of M&M’s.

It’s not that you stuff every accessible square inch of a co-worker’s office with balloons. Stuff every available square inch with balloons and leave a pin tied to the door handle, making it impossible to enter without popping them all by one.
22. Car For Sale
List the car your co-worker loves and post it on Facebook marketplace. Ensure you give their actual phone number, so they get confused when they get all these calls about selling their car.
23. Grapes
When April fools day and Easter fall on the same day– this one is tricky, but it pays off handsomely. Purchase a package of foil-wrapped tiny eggs. Carefully unwrap them and (optionally) eat the chocolate—wrap grapes around the chocolate to replace it. Return the grapes to the packet and wait for the hilarity to begin.
24. Flip-flop the Computer Screen
This little prank will make your co-worker feel like using your trackpad is like climbing Mt. Everest. Hit Ctrl + Alt + Down arrow (the same combination with the up arrow will flip it back).
If this doesn’t work, go to the right-click menu on the desktop and select Display Settings (or Screen Resolution on previous versions) to modify the screen orientation.
25. Fuel the Car with Diesel Instead of Petrol
Men believe that women are incompetent with vehicles. So, you can call your husband and tell him that you messed up and accidentally put diesel into your car. He’s going to get pissed!
26. Googly Eyes
Purchase a collection of googly eyes, which are surprisingly inexpensive. (Six dollars for a thousand eyes? Please, yes.) Then, use a pair of peepers to embellish every package, bottle, Tupperware, and piece of fruit in their refrigerator. When they open the fridge, they’ll be surprised to see that every single item of food—including that outdated yogurt—is gazing back at them.
27. Broken Tv
Your friends or family will get freaked out when they see the cracked screen; it’s so realistic that they’ll all think you broke the Tv. Download and save the image of the smashed led screen to your hard drive or SD card. Once you’ve saved your image, you may use it as a background on your television and claim it’s broken. It is an excellent trick if you want to get someone fired up! (Just make sure you can run fast!)
28. Zip Tie Cupboards
Zip ties are reasonably strong, so wrap them around your cupboards doors shut and zip tie all the scissors so that your family cannot use them. Now, watch your family squirm as they attempt to open cupboards.
29. Super Glue Pranks
Superglue a quarter to the floor in front of a vending machine. Only time-lapse photography can adequately capture the ingenuity of such a practical joke, but staying for an hour gives you a good indication of how clever it was.
30. Broken Door
The greater the number of doors in your workplace, the better. Attach signs with arrows pointing to every entry and exit in the office, saying, “Door is broken, use another door.” Your confused co-workers will go in circles, looking for a way out. Just make sure they know about the joke before trying to flee out a window.

Download an app that hides your phone number and text your partner from it. “Thank you for subscribing to random cat facts. You will receive one fact every 20 seconds as requested. Your card ending in 2853 will get charged $1.50 per fact as requested. <message and data rates apply>“
