Have you ever woken up late? Stared the entire day, for the whole family, just behind by a few minutes? These Kix Cereal Bars could be your saving grace as everyone gets a quick breakfast while on the literal run.
Kix Cereal Bars Kid Tested Mother Approved
I loved those ads when was younger – how anyone could think a kid would pick a box of puffed rice or the like over a box of sugary goodness that even came with mini marshmallows? They were delusional. Sure moms approved of Kis Cereal, but these Kix Cereal Bars are Kid Tested and winners.
Kix Cereal Bar Treats History
My mom was pretty much a single parent after their divorce – I think I was about 10-years-old. Add in the fact that she was a chef who ran a kitchen at a local dining hot spot? Well, let’s just say that us kids were often guinea pigs for her creations.
We didn’t have just plain old Rice Krispie treats at our house – no way! Mom played with all different kinds of cereals and many different kinds of mix-ins.
What kinds of mix-ins could we expect? Raisins, Craisins (even though they weren’t called that back then), almonds, walnuts, and even sunflower seeds. I am not sure to this day if it was a matter of what she had crossed her mind or if it was simply what she found in the cupboard.
Needless to say, these Kix cereal bars were a hit, and a bit more nutritious than their puffed rice-based version. We often had these in our lunch boxes and were often the center of attention for people trying to trade with us.
Seriously – I wouldn’t have given this up for a tuna salad sandwich, no matter how much I liked my friend Patty!
