“Creamed” food is a concept older than the “Supper Club” era… it was a simple and tasty way to stretch what might not have been an abundance of produce.
Creamed corn, creamed onions, creamed peas, creamed carrots — you get the picture.

It is SUPER easy to make and can often be a great compliment to any rich entree!

Every time I make ham loaves or salmon loaf, Creamed Peas is my “go to” side dish!

Seriously, it takes less than five minutes to make!

Creamed Peas
In your skillet, melt 2 Tablespoons of butter. Add a dash of salt and white pepper (black will do but shows up more). Now, stir in 2 Tablespoons of white flour. It will be a thick, yellowish, mess. It’s OK.
🙂
Slowly whisk in 2 cups of milk. It will dissolve that mess. I promise.
Bring to a gentle boil and then fold in your 1lb. bag of peas. Add a 1/2 teaspoon dill and slowly let it thicken a bit (about a minute).

That is it!
You are ready to ROCK!
