Cheese Tortellini Alfredo Creamy Sauce

Yes, this comes down to the sauce. If you are pressed for time – I suggest a bottled or canned brand from your local grocery store. I don’t recommend the Cheese Tortellini Alfredo in a jar.

If you go that way, you can skip the last four ingredients and use a jar of Alfredo sauce (Think Prego) to speed things up a bit!

Cheese Tortellini Alfredo Casserole

This is an EASY one to whip up and can easily be changed with what ingredients you have on hand! You can switch out the peas, or mushrooms, or even broccoli for any different vegetables.

Cheese Tortellini Alfredo With Chicken

It is super easy to add protein to this meal. Simply stir in 2 cups of diced ham or diced chicken to the final recipe and you are ready to go. It is even great for shredded rotisserie chicken – I see them often on bargain pricing for the local grocery store or even at Costco.

That is the perk of having a little extra time on your hands – whipping up this great homemade Alfredo sauce from scratch. It only takes 4 simple ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups of heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1-2 cups of shredded Parmesan cheese

In a skillet melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in cream and pepper; heat it through. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese until it is melted and thickens your sauce without a roux.

That. Is. It.

Tortellini Alfredo with Broccoli

With this recipe, I use broccoli – mainly for the color and texture. I think the peas add a lot too – make sure to use frozen ones, not canned ones. Canned peas are just gross! They are dark green instead of that bright spring green and get even mushier when you try to cook them in a casserole or soup.

Tortellini Alfredo Recipe

I think this is the ultimate comforting family meal. No doubt that it is an easy pasta recipe that uses fresh tortellini – that cheesy pasta in a thick sauce becomes the ultimate casserole dish when you add in all the vegetables. You can skip the side salad and just serve with rolls or crusty french garlic bread. Honestly, you don’t need to add any carbs to this easy dinner – it is hearty enough to stand on it’s own.
